This Is Not a Government Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot pull official documents, file paperwork, or issue certified copies for anyone. For any of those, you need to reach the right Chaffee County or Colorado government office directly.

Here's where to look for the records most people ask about in Chaffee County:

  • Court case files: contact Chaffee Combined Court, 142 Crestone Avenue, P.O. Box 279, Salida, CO 81201; 719-539-2561; ChaffeeCountyClerk@judicial.state.co.us. The Clerk's Office posts a lunch closure from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Marriage records and recorded documents: contact the Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder, Salida Office, 104 Crestone Avenue, P.O. Box 699, Salida, CO 81201; 719-539-4004, or Buena Vista Office, 112 Linderman Avenue, Buena Vista, CO 81211; 719-395-8296. Offices are posted Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday closed.
  • Divorce decrees: use Chaffee Combined Court and the Colorado Judicial Branch record/document request form for District Court domestic-relations records.
  • Probate, wills, and estates: use Chaffee Combined Court because probate matters are handled in District Court.
  • Criminal and arrest reports: contact Chaffee County Sheriff's Records Division, 641 West 3rd Street, P.O. Box 699, Salida, CO 81201; 719-539-2814; records@chaffeesheriff.org; Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed holidays.
  • Jail custody and bond status: contact the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office and Detention Center campus, 641 West 3rd Street, Salida; non-emergency 719-539-2596. The official jail page says staff only confirms custody and bond status.
  • Active warrants or missed court: contact the issuing court first. For Chaffee District or County Court, call 719-539-2561. For Salida Municipal Court, call 719-530-2629. For Buena Vista Municipal Court, call Court Clerk Judy Nyberg at 719-395-8654.
  • Other county records: use the Chaffee County NextRequest public-record portal when the record is held by a county department rather than the state court, Clerk and Recorder, or Sheriff's Records Division.
